Simply, Because Kids, Pets and Family Health Are Important.

There is no substitute for safety. At NaturaLawn of America, we take great pride in giving you the peace of mind that an organic-based IPM program brings you. Our IPM program is designed with safety in mind, ensuring that our kids, pets, and overall family health are not compromised. It's not just about maintaining a beautiful lawn; it's about creating a safe and healthy environment for our families to enjoy.

What is Nature's Lawn® IPM Program?

An IPM program is a complete lawn care management system that provides for reduced, better and safer use of materials designed to control insects, weeds and diseases, the Nature's Lawn® way. Successful IPM programs are based on:

  • Prevention
  • Monitoring
  • Controlling

The Nature's Lawn® IPM Program is more than just a lawn care management system. It's a commitment to the environment, to our health, and to the future. By reducing the use of harmful materials and promoting safer alternatives, we are taking a stand against traditional, harmful pest control methods. We are choosing a path that respects nature and prioritizes safety.

Prevention

Prevention is the first step in our IPM program. By focusing on prevention, we can reduce the need for reactive measures. This proactive approach not only keeps your lawn healthy but also reduces the potential harm to beneficial insects and the environment.

Prevention includes conserving the natural enemies of turf pests by selective use of biological and synthetic controls, planting improved varieties of turf that have natural resistance to insect and disease attacks and using good cultural practices (i.e. mowing, watering, core aeration and thatch removal).

Monitoring in the IPM Program

NaturaLawn® of America, IPM Program technicians, inspect and monitor your lawn and soil for problem pests throughout the growing year. We compare the information recorded during these monitoring visits with weather conditions, the pest's behavior and its stage of development, as well as the lawn's history.

Our monitoring process is thorough and consistent. We understand that effective pest management is not a one-time event but a continuous process. Our technicians are trained to identify potential problems early, allowing us to address them before they become significant issues.

Controlling

Control in the IPM program is not about eliminating all pests but managing them effectively. We recognize that some insects play a beneficial role in our ecosystem. Our goal is to maintain a balanced environment where your lawn can thrive without causing unnecessary harm to these beneficial insects.

Control includes using biological or chemical treatments only when necessary to prevent major lawn damage. This involves saving beneficial insects that may help destroy the pests that damage lawns. Remember: The purpose of control is not to get rid of all pests but rather to hold damage to an acceptable or unnoticeable level.

IPM Programs—New or Old Idea?

The concept of pest management can trace its beginning back to early agriculture and organic gardening.

Today's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program for lawn care is very new—in fact, so new that NaturaLawn of America was the pioneer for the lawn care industry and challenged the old tradition of "see and spray" pest control.

While the concept of pest management is not new, the way we approach it has evolved significantly. The IPM program represents a shift in mindset, from reactive pest control to proactive pest management. It's a testament to our commitment to innovation and sustainability.

A Textbook Case of Industry Leadership

The Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) coordinated efforts to put together a textbook titled Integrated Pest Management For Turf and Ornamentals. NaturaLawn of America is proud and honored to have been asked by the EPA coordinator to author the chapter, "Implementation of an IPM Program Into a Lawn Care Operation."

Our contribution to the textbook "Integrated Pest Management For Turf and Ornamentals" is a testament to our expertise and leadership in the industry. We are proud to share our knowledge and experience, helping to shape the future of lawn care.
