Back in 2005, one of our franchise owners, Dan Collins, passed away from cancer. Dan had a larger-than-life personality, and he was always eager to help others with their lawn care needs using NaturaLawn’s safer approach. This three-tiered scholarship was created in his memory.
Thank you to all who applied. We had close to 70 applicants and we continue to be in awe of the caliber of students working on their higher education.
At this time we’d like to announce the award recipients.
The $2,000 Dan Collins scholarship is awarded to Alexandra DeEmedio! Alexandra will attending Hofstra University next year and major in Psychology. She’s involved in theater, Science National Honors Society, and SGA. She will be working on a degree in Psychology so she can get into Human Resources to advocate for individuals in the corporate setting.
The recipient of the $3,000 scholarship goes to Tate Ondrik! Tate is currently a student at the University of Tenn Martin where he’s pursuing a degree in Soil and Water Conservation. He plans to use his degree to help farmers implement sustainable, environmental practices. He feels passionate about preserving opening spaces and would love to work with the Department of Agriculture.
And finally, the winner of our first place, $5,000 scholarship is awarded to Annalise Abruzzese. Annalise has been a member of Future Farmers of America, English Honors Society, and involved in welding and field hockey. She plans to attend Kansas State University to pursue a degree in Parks Management & Conservation & Agribusiness. She would love to use her degree to become an agricultural lawyer so she can advocate for family farms and communities.
